Awards were presented at Argyle Central School to students in the Class of 2024. Students were selected for special recognition for college-based scholarships.
Andrew Austin and Carrie Humiston received the The Colonel Emerging Leader Award from Wilkes University. This award is given to a junior in recognition of outstanding achievement in academics and extracurricular activities. Andrew is the son of Scott and Michelle Austin. Carrie is the daughter of Matthew and Kimberly Humiston.
Alyssa Benson, Carlie Depew, Carrie Humiston, Raegan Humiston, McKenna McWhorter, and Mya Munoz each received the Student Sage Scholarship. This award was created to recognize the characteristics of excellence in the classroom and engagement in the community. Alyssa is the daughter of Chey Blackmer and Adam Benson. Carlie is the daughter of Dana and Leslie Depew. Carrie is the daughter of Matthew and Kimberly Humiston. Raegan is the daughter of Jared and Denise Humiston. McKenna is the daughter of Michael and Shellie McWhorter. Mya is the daughter of Raquel Munoz.
Conner Buck received the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology from the University of Rochester. This award is given to a junior in recognition of outstanding achievement in the pursuit of innovative approaches and an appreciation of the possibilities of technology. Connor also received the RPI Medal Scholarship. This award is given to a junior who shows outstanding achievement in the study of Mathematics and Science. He also received the RIT Computing Award. This award is given to a junior who has shown academic achievement, involvement in school and community and demonstrates interest and ability in computing. Conner is the son of Richard and Averi Buck.
Jacob Durkee and Erica Siaulnski received the Wells 21st Century Leadership Award. This award is given to juniors in recognition of outstanding contributions as a student and leader. Jacob is the son of Justin and Jammie Durkee. Erica is the daughter of Steve and Erin Siaulnski.
Madison Eldred received the George Eastman Young Leaders Award from the University of Rochester. This award is given to a junior in recognition of outstanding academic achievement and leadership. Madison also received the Clarkson Achievement Award. This award is given to a junior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities and academic promise. Madison is the daughter of John and Jolene Eldred.
Alex Heller received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award from the University of Rochester in recognition of outstanding commitment to social justice and dedication to continuing their unfinished life’s work. Alex also received the RIT Art and Design Award. This award is given to a junior who has shown academic achievement, involvement in school and community and demonstrates outstanding achievement in art and design. Alex is the child of Amber Heller.
Alex Heller and Benjamin Randles received the St. Lawrence/Augsbury North Country Scholarship. This award is given to juniors who demonstrate academic and extracurricular leadership.
Benjamin Randles received the Bausch and Lomb Science Award from the University of Rochester. This award is given to a junior in recognition of outstanding achievement and superior intellectual promise in the field of Science. Benjamin also received the Clarkson Leadership Award. This award is given to a student who demonstrates outstanding leadership qualities and academic promise. He also received the RIT Science and Math Award. This award is given to a junior who has shown academic achievement, involvement in school and community and demonstrates interest and ability in Science and Math. Benjamin is the son of Jereme and Deborah Randles.
Brandon Saunders received the Alfred University Scholar Award. This award is in recognition of academic and community achievement, along with an “outside of ordinary character”. Brandon is the son of Shannon Riley and Rodney Saunders.
